Boys' Basketball Update #4

Our team traveled to Escondido tonight to take on Calvin Christian for the second time in five days. We saw our guys put forth an outstanding team effort. Daniel Harrell had 10 huge points with a 6’6” all-league player trying to stop him. Patrick Bjornstad and Drew Green led our team’s tough defensive effort. Tommy Rogers chipped in 8 points and Nick Nielsen had a game high 19 pts, including 16 in the first half, leading us to a 52-41 win. Every player on our team played and got in the mix. Overall, it was a very good night for our hard-working group.

We now stand at 17-6 on the season, including 4-1 in league play. As luck would have it, we will face off vs Maranatha, 21-3, and also 4-1 in league this Friday night at 7:00. A shot at a league title is completely on the line in this game. We beat Maranatha earlier in the season, however, they were missing their leading scorer. Maranatha is very talented. In fact, they are currently ranked #19 among all schools in San Diego, ahead of schools like LCC, Cathedral Catholic, and Oceanside. Nonetheless, we feel we match up well, are continuing to improve, and play with extreme effort on the defensive end. It sets up to be one of the most interesting games in PRS boys’ basketball history. Our team would appreciate (and really needs) any and all support! Please come watch and feel free to encourage our students to show up.
